In this short blog, we described the best-performing ad sizes, according to the largest ad networks in the world. Below we’ve selected the top list of Google, Adform. We also show our own list proving that we also follow the same recommendations.

300×250, 336×280, 728×90, 160×600, 320×100

Adform’s recommended or most common ad dimensions:

Adrapid’s recommended or most common ad dimensions:

As you might have noticed, three banner sizes appear repeatedly in all the above recommendations. Those are often referred to as “The Top Three”

"The Top Three"

  • 300×250: Standard Rectangle
  • 728×90: Leaderboard
  • 160×600: Standard Skyscraper

It's basically due to their suitable sizes, that fits ad spaces on most websites, as a result, those ad sizes have become the standard.

How to use "The Top Three"

We´ve described the best performing ad sizes above, let's now focus on the best of the best and see how they are mostly used.

The Standard Rectangle (300×250 ad size)

This is the most compact banner size. It performs well when embedded within text content. You see the 300×250 ad size often used within news articles and blog posts. It also works well on both mobile and websites because of its size, as it works well with most screen aspect ratios.

The Leaderboard (728x90 ad size)

The Leaderboard got its name because it’s usually displayed at the top of a web page. It's also often used as a divider between articles or big text blocks. Most experts recommended using the Leaderboard on forums and similar pages.

The Skyscraper (160×600 ad size)

This banner got its name Skyscraper because it is tall and narrow. It looks like a Skyscraper. This is often displayed on either side of web pages, outside of the article area you are reading.

We hope that you found this short blog useful or at least a good reminder of what you already knew!
